SHERWOOD, MI (WTVB) – A barn on the north side of Sherwood was destroyed in a fire that broke out just after midnight on Friday morning.
Sherwood Township Fire Chief Jeff Smurr says the fire in the 500 block of North Main just south of the township hall was reported at 12:19 a.m..
The barn’s roof was caved in before the fire broke out but there were six L.P. tanks inside. None of them exploded and no injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. Firefighters were on the scene until about 2:00 a.m..
Sherwood Township received assistance from Union City and Athens firefighters as well as the Michigan State Police and the Branch County Sheriff’s Department.
