COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) -Branch County is gearing up for a spectacular two-day celebration to honor America’s 250th birthday, anchoring its festivities around the national theme, “Honoring our past, celebrating our present, inspiring our future.”
The weekend kicks off on Friday July 3 with community gatherings and massive fireworks displays at dusk.
In Union City, residents can head to the high school Alumni Stadium for concessions and DJ music before the sky lights up.
Meanwhile, spectators around Marble Lake can stake out viewing spots at Tip Up Island, the Wildwood Road public access, or the Branch County Park on Lake Drive to watch a stunning, barge-launched fireworks show.
The patriotism continues on July 4 with a full lineup of traditional, small-town events across the county.
The City of Coldwater always holds its fireworks on July 4th at dusk at Heritage Park. The fireworks are visible from the Cemetery and North Lakes.
Coldwater Lake will start the morning with a community pancake breakfast from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., followed by a decorated boat flotilla departing the public launch at 1:00 p.m. and concluding with an evening fireworks display near the sand bar.
In Quincy, the annual hometown parade will step off from the high school parking lot at 11:00 a.m., sending classic cars, fire trucks, and veterans down Fulton, Jefferson, and Main streets.
Parade spectators are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and stop by the Quincy Historical Museum, where the Friends of the Library will host their signature homemade pie sale to support the local library.
