COLDWATER, MI (WTVB – It officially kicks off today and runs through Sunday, the US 12 Heritage Trail Garage Sale.
Known as “Michigan’s Longest Garage Sale,” this 200-mile journey from New Buffalo to Detroit is more of a massive treasure hunt than a simple yard sale. Every year, hundreds of vendors set up at homes, farms, and businesses to sell everything from antiques and furniture to fresh produce and homemade treats.
While the items are a major draw, organizers say the event is most celebrated for its vibrant social atmosphere and the unique stories shared by locals along the route, calling it a true “Americana” experience built on new connections and the thrill of the hunt.
Meantime, the 127 Yard Sale, also known as the World’s Longest Yard Sale, is taking place across multiple states. Beginning in Michigan, the event runs 690-miles through Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, and Georgia before ending in Alabama.
It gives the public the chance to stay off of busy highways and instead enjoy scenic routes through small towns and rural communities.
