Western Michigan Football 2013 Game by Game Prediction

by Colin Windecker

Fri, Aug 30: @ Michigan State – It would be the story of the year if the Broncos rolled into East Lansing and upset the Spartans. But it won’t happen. Loss (0-1)

Sat, Sept 7: Nicholls – If Western doesn’t win this one Fleck should be fired on the spot. Not really, but there should be no way they loss to the FCS Colonels. Win (1-1)

Sat, Sept 14: @Northwestern – The Wildcats are no longer the laughing stock of the Big Ten. Ranked #22 in preseason polls they have a legit shot at playing in the Big Ten Championship. Loss (1-2)

Sat, Sept 21: @Iowa – The last time the Broncos played in Iowa City they came left with a victory. Don’t think it happens again, but if Western is to win one game against a Big Ten opponent this year, it’ll be against Iowa. Loss (1-3)

Sat, Sept 28: Kent State – What brutal way to start their MAC schedule. Kent State was 8-0 last year in the MAC and return two 1,000 yard backs. Fans at Waldo will be rowdy for the night game but leave disappointed. Loss (1-4)

Sat, Oct 5: @Toledo – It doesn’t get any easier for the Broncos at the Glass Bowl. The last time the Broncos and Rockets played at the Glass Bowl the two teams combined for a MAC record 129 points. The score won’t be that high again but the outcome will be. Loss (1-5)

Sat, Oct 12: Buffalo – The Broncos had two fourth quarter turnovers against the Bulls last year and lost 29-24. Don’t think these guys forgot about that. Win (2-5)

Sat, Oct 19: Ball State – Another game the Broncos had a chance to win last year but they let it slip away. Again don’t think these guys forgot about that that loss. Win (3-5)

Sat, Oct 25: @UMass – The Minutemen are still a few years away from competing in the MAC. Broncos rolled them last year 52-14, expect a similar outcome this year. Win (4-5)

Sat, Nov 9: @Eastern Michigan – By the time the Broncos and Eagles played last season the team had lost all focus and motivation. EMU won’t make it three wins in row over their directional rival. Win (5-5)

Sat, Nov 16: Central Michigan – A chance to become bowl eligible and beat your biggest rival for a third straight year, what more motivation do you need? Win (6-5)

Tue, Nov 26: @Northern Illinois – With 10 days off in-between games all the talk will be about Fleck’s return to NIU. I’ll take WMU to cover the spread in this one but the Huskies are too good at home. Loss (6-6)

6-6 overall and 5-3 in the MAC should have the Broncos inline to play in a postseason bowl game. I’ll give it a guess and say they get invited to the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl.
