COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Branch County Administrator Bud Norman told the Township Supervisors Association meeting on Monday night that he thinks bids for a new animal control building will come in higher than what they got from insurance following the fire in May 2015 which heavily damaged the old shelter.
Current plans call for the animal shelter to be built next to the Branch County Jail so that inmates can help take care of the animals.
On another matter, Norman said they plan to have a County Expo at the Dearth Center on February 25, 2017 as a way to increase community relations.
In discussing the 2017 county budget, Norman said they were looking at an 18 to 25 percent increase in insurance. Other increases were expected for pensions, autopsies, child care and infrastructure.
