KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO) – Mike Douglas had 17 points and Flenard Whitfield had 12 to lead the Broncos as they ended their preseason schedule 2-0 with a  78-63 victory over Division 2 Northwood Saturday Afternoon at University Arena.

Nate Hutchinson added 11 points and 8 rebounds and Shayne Whittington also had 8 rebounds. Freshman Hayden Hoerdemann finished in double figures as well with 11 points.

Western took a 39-23 lead into halftime but were outscored by the Timberwolves 40-39 in the second half.

Booker Stoudmire, coming off the bench, topped the scoring charts for Northwood with 16 points.

The Broncos defeated Kalamazoo College on Wednesday in their first preseason game. Western travels to South Dakota State next Saturday to kick off the season.
