COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Feeding Branch County Christmas event conducted by the Branch Area Food Pantry can add 2015 as another successful year when the community answered the call to come to the aid of those less fortunate during the holidays. On Saturday, at the Fairfield Plaza on Coldwater’s north side, nearly 1,000 families were given boxes of food for Christmas.
Hundreds of volunteers including individuals, families, the Coldwater Police and Fire Departments, Coldwater High School Basketball players, and 4H groups loaded and helped hand out boxes full of goodies. The good cheer was contagious as a man shopping at Family Fare witnessed what was happening and bought a turkey to give away.
Many, many hungry people said thank you over and over again, most in cars, some on bikes, some with carts, all feeling blessed by the expression of generosity that has become the year round hallmark of the landscape that is Branch County.
