Coldwater BPU Employees Receive Certifications

Bryan Smith, an employee of the Coldwater Board of Public Utilities, has passed the Michigan DEQ examination for certification as a class “D-2” municipal drinking water operator. Smith began his career with the water department in 2007, offering the utility expertise in several skilled trades.Bryanobtained hisMichiganStatelicensure for Journeyman Plumber in 2000 as well as earning Universal Refrigeration Certification.

Another Coldwater B-P-U employee, Steve Barone, recently completed the necessary 7,000 hours and also the required course material to graduate from the Great Lakes Energy Cooperative Inc. Joint Apprenticeship and Training Program. Barone obtained his Utility Technician Certificate in 2006 fromAlpenaCommunity College. In 2008 he began his career with the electric department as an apprentice lineman, where he has been able to showcase his education and knowledge in the electric field.
