March 12, 2013 - Coldwater, MI -- The Care for Life Walk/Run Committee is gearing up for the fundraising walk and 5K run being held on Saturday, May 4. The Committee is raising needed funds for the pregnancy center located in Coldwater. New this year to encourage fundraising, the Committee will have incentive gifts for those that raise funds at various levels.
“Participants will love the incentives we’re providing. I think it will help get more donations as well as give participants some goals to reach for,” said Jane Ford, executive director of Beginnings Care for Life Center. Incentive levels include: $50 or more of donations – Life Walk/Run T-Shirt; $100 - $10 Gift Card to Northwoods or Tasty Twist; $250 - $25 Gift Card to Northwoods or Tasty Twist, $500 - iPod Nano or $50 Gift Card of Choice; $1000 - Kindle Fire 100 Gift Card of Cho ice; $200 - Apple Mini or $200 Gift Card of Choice. Collected donations must be presented at registration and incentive gifts will be presented within 45 days of the event.
Also new this year is 3.1 mile race, which will wind through the streets of Coldwater, beginning at 9:15 a.m. Medals will be awarded for the top three runners in selected age groups. Fees for the run are: $20 before May 2nd and $25 after. To pre-register, go to active.com or BeginnningsCare.com.
The traditional walk is free and will be held on the track at Heritage Park in Coldwater, beginning at 9 a.m.
The Care for Life Walk/Run date has also been changed. In previous years it was held on Mother’s Day weekend. “We moved it to the weekend before Mother’s Day this year,” said Ford. “We think it will be a better week to get involvement from the community.” Refreshments, children’s activities, and drawing for prizes will also be available the day of the event. Since 1996, Beginnings Care for Life Center has offered free, confidential services to community members of all age, race, marital status or religious beliefs. The mission of the Center is to reach out in the love of Jesus Christ to our community in a spirit of help, truth, and hope. We offer education, material assistance, and spiritual counsel in order to foster healing and positive choices for women, men, and their families.
Beginnings Care for Life Center is a non-profit agency, run by dedicated volunteers and funded by donations. The Center is located at 213 Marshall St. in Coldwater.
