COLDWATER – It’s been nearly four years since “Roots to Rock” has been presented at the Tibbits Opera House, and there’s buzz around town over this year’s event coming up on Saturday, August 27. 

All the performers are great artists in their own right and familiar entertainers in the region. According to Producer Delbert Walling what makes this performance unique and special is having them together and in a concert setting.

This year’s “Roots to Rock” is an evening of music featuring ten musicians in five group formats including The Delbert Walling Group featuring Delbert Walling, Kim Johnson, David Hackett, and Peter Fair with special guests Amy Hansen and Haley Smith; Jim Stout Band featuring Jim Stout, Laurie Corless, and Peter Fair; Mike Gorecki and Peter Fair duo; Kim Johnson and Delbert Walling duo; and Delbert Walling and Jim Knisely duo. 

In putting together the concert Walling says, “I enjoy creating a personal sounding show that goes from intimate to full-blown excitement.”  The two-hour concert presents music that reaches deep in the tradition of folk, bluegrass, country, rock and roll, and more.  “Roots to Rock is a very dynamic and energetic concert,” adds Walling, “It’s fun for all ages.” 

The show begins another season of the Tibbits Entertainment Series, designed to bring arts, cultural and entertainment opportunities to the community.  Tibbits Executive Director Christine Delaney said, “We want to offer great entertainment and there is no place better then Tibbits to see and enjoy a special concert. It’s comfortable, great acoustics and every seat gives you that up-close and personal experience.”  This year’s series kicks off with “Roots to Rock” and will include an October show of “The Blanks—Ted’s Band from the TV show ‘Scrubs’”, a mid-winter show to be announced soon, and will conclude in April with Woody English and Friends.

General admission tickets are $15 and on sale through the Tibbits website, www.Tibbits.org, at the box office, or Tibbits Administrative office.  Doors open on August 27 at 6:30 pm with the show starting at 7:30 pm.  There will be a cash bar with beer and wine available at the Tibbits.
