“Tibbits Hosts Youth Theatre Workshop”

Posted by Pat Thomas on

Got a child or grandchild interested in theatre?  If so, sign up today for a special workshop hosted by Tibbits beginning on August 8th, for two weeks.  The workshop will lead children on an artistic adventure, exploring the world of theatre and dramatic arts.  Children will grow in their acting abilities and then showcase them at the end of the week at a showcase performance.

The workshops are for children going into grades 4th through 9th.  The workshop will begin on August 8th, with an intro session on August 5th and a final performance at 7 pm on Friday, August 19th.  Two afternoon sessions will be held Monday through Friday with students going in to grades 4, 5 or 6 meeting from 1 pm until 3 pm and students going in to grades 7, 8 or 9 meeting from 3:30 until 5 pm.

Highlights of the workshop include mask making, voice and movement, improvisation, storytelling, and learning all aspects of theatrical production.

Leading the workshop will be Hilary Anthony, a theater teaching artist and graduate of Western Michigan University’s Theatre Performance School.  She has been acting since the age of eight and is excited to come to Tibbits for this educational workshop for those children in our community interested in theatre.

Cost for the workshop is $110, or $100 for Tibbits members.  Workshop includes workshop materials, t-shirt, and a ticket to a Tibbits Popcorn Theatre performance of the “Abracadabra Magic Show”.
