Having a baby takes lots of planning and preparation. In order to assist new moms with planning before the baby arrives, the Obstetric Department at Cameron Memorial Community Hospital is excited to announce the addition of the Special Touch Delivery program. The Special Touch Delivery team at Cameron’s Birthing Center helps expectant moms navigate every step of the journey. Participants make three specialized, one-on-one visits with members of the obstetric team (two visits before delivery and one after delivery) to learn in-depth information about:
- Nutrition
- Breastfeeding education
- Forming a personalized birth plan
- Pain control options
- Tour of the unit
- Vaccinations and much more
“We established this program as a way to proactively help our community members,” said Cameron OB Clinical Coordinator, Tonya Alleshouse, R.N. “When a woman comes in to have a baby, we only have her for 48 hours and that just isn’t enough time to provide all of the information a new mom needs. We want our moms to feel very comfortable in their new roles as parents when they go home.”
The Special Touch Delivery program offers the opportunity to get information and assistance in a relaxed and personalized atmosphere from a knowledgeable staff. It also gives them the time to have their questions and concerns addressed.
Cameron’s Birthing Center has 15 registered nurses providing over 130 combined years of experience in assisting area parents. These professionals are all neonatal certified, certified in the stability program, and have all completed a breastfeeding class to better assist mothers and babies as they prepare to go home.
