In association with Tibbits’ Summerstock Theatre’s production of "The Full Monty", Integrative Somatics Institute is sponsoring a one day workshop titled Moving From Fate Into Destiny to be presented by nationally known teacher, Lorena Williams of Stillpoint Illinois. Lorena is a psychotherapist and spiritual director from the Chicago area. She has developed programs combining her passion for theatre and film with her over 30 years of clinical practice to bring issues of personal transformation into clear focus.
So ask yourself, when your back is to the wall, what do you do? And, what can you do? This workshop will provide an opportunity to develop a fresh perspective on this dilemma. Whether one is wrestling with these issues and the stakes are high or perhaps are interested in a more meaningful theatre experience, this event will provide a unique chance to look a little deeper into the meaning behind the art and perhaps give some personal insights.
"Theatre provides opportunities to experience challenging life events without the pinch of having to actually go through them," says Ms. Williams. "And when theatre addresses difficult situations we may really be facing, we have the time and detachment to reflect on them in a way that better informs our strategies and choices. I have found theatre and film can possess much deeper meaning than mere entertainment if we are willing to go beyond the surface. Once we have done that, we begin to appreciate the wellspring of wisdom they offer us."
The workshop will take place Saturday, July 9th from 10am to 5pm at Integrative Somatics Institute, 73 West Chicago Street in downtown Coldwater, just next to the back stage door of the Tibbits. Later that evening students will attend the Tibbits Opera House production of “The Full Monty” and afterwards have an opportunity to meet the production company for a talkback at the theatre. The experience will be capped off with a wine and cheese event at Integrative Somatics Institute.
Registrations before June 24th will be $170.00, after June 24th, $185.00. Registration includes the workshop, the performance and the wine and cheese event. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the restoration project of Tibbits Opera House.
