Since 2004 the Maple Lawn Auxiliary has awarded the Sanderson Scholarships to eligible employees at the facility who are seeking educational opportunities through schooling or conferences. The Auxiliary dedicates $2,000 to scholarships annually to provide for individual stipends with the belief that the money will be spent in the interest of the community to continue to provide excellent care to the residents at Maple Lawn Medical Care Facility. 2011 recipients include Brittany Collins, Amanda Hudson, Jessica Akers and Kerrie Murphy.
It was the former Mr. Leo Sanderson's personal dream that Maple Lawn's outstanding care would continue into the future because of the caring people that Maple Lawn is honored to employ. Auxiliary members believe in continuing education and desire to assist those seeking to improve their skills and seek opportunity for growth in their area of service.
The Maple Lawn Auxiliary raises money throughout the year through yard sales, bake sales, quilt raffles and other means. When a resident or department has a suggestion that would benefit Maple Lawn and the residents, the auxiliary often helps obtain the item. In recent years, the auxiliary has also purchased a beautiful oak hospitality cart, a wii system and games, and a special activity cart for in-room visits.
There are many volunteers of varying ages that help Maple Lawn in a variety of ways. Some of them are members of the Auxiliary, some volunteer several times a week, some several times a year. Maple Lawn is appreciative of their volunteers. If you’re interested in volunteering at Maple Lawn, please contact Kelli Seager at 517-279-9587.
Maple Lawn Medical Care Facility has been recognized by the governor and other agencies for providing quality care through extended-stay nursing care to seniors with varying levels of disabilities.
