In order to streamline the scholarship process for students, and provide funders information for Branch County Community Foundation scholarships, a meeting is scheduled for Thursday, November 3 at 9:00 a.m. at the Southern Michigan Bank andTrustLoanCenterin Coldwater. This meeting will provide funders ideas on how to better read and understand the application and select their recipients.
During the meeting, the Foundation will present a common scholarship application, to simplify the paperwork required for scholarships, which any organization can use and customize to a specific scholarship. Information will also be provided regarding current IRS regulations and information on how to determine financial need using the SAR from students’ federal financial aid application. Application deadlines will also be discussed. Last spring, the Branch County Community Foundation processed 340 scholarship applications from students requesting funds for their college education.
