Bank of America has donated $15,000 towards Community Action’s Home Delivered Meals Program, serving homebound senior citizens age 60 and over in both Branch and Calhoun Counties.
Community Action’s Home Delivered Meals Program serves meals that provide one-third of the recommended daily allowance (RDA) to homebound senior citizens age 60 and over. The money donated by Bank of America will provide funding for approximately 2,100 meals in Branch and Calhoun Counties. Meals on Wheels is a crucial element in most homebound seniors’ lives; allowing them to live independently in their homes without having to move into nursing homes.
Results of a recent study done by Community Action showed that, on an average day, 40% of Meals on Wheels participants only saw one person besides their Community Action Meals on Wheels driver.
