Altrusa International, Inc. of Branch County Announces “Picture Me Reading” Contest

Altrusa International, Inc. of Branch County is sponsoring a dual contest, for Branch county school aged children, in an effort to promote literacy.  Contestants have the ability to enter a one hundred word essay discussing their favorite reading subject, or to submit a photograph catching someone reading, or both.  Contest forms have been made available to each Branch County school office and are also available by request through e-mail at altrusareadingcontest@gmail.com .

The event kicked off on September 8th, World Literacy Day, with the announcement of the contest to Branch County schools and local libraries.  This week “Get Caught Reading” posters, featuring national celebrities, were also delivered.

Local club members of Altrusa International, Inc. of Branch County will be judging the contest for each of the following categories: Grades K-4, Grades 5-8, and Grades 9-12.  A $25 gift card will be awarded for each category.  All entries will also be entered in a drawing for a chance to win a Barnes & Noble Nook Reader, valued at over $130.00.  All prizes have been donated by Altrusa International, Inc. of Branch County.

Winners will be awarded at the Coldwater Public Library, Kid’s Place, on Saturday, October 22, 2011-- Make a Difference Day.
