The Community Action Agency is encouraging those 60-and-over who can’t shop or cook for themselves to sign up for Meals on Wheels with no waiting list right now for the program, which has no income guidelines. Community Action says “Virginia” is a typical Branch County Home Delivered Meals participant. She started with Meals on Wheels in late 2006, after her husband passed away. Her physician suggested the meals to help maintain her weight, as it had become an issue. Virginia feels the meals have helped improve her life, and she enjoys the courteous staff member who visits her daily. Her favorite food item is the mashed potatoes, though she really enjoys the desserts. In her own words, “The program couldn’t be more perfect!” For more information about Community Action and Meals on Wheels, call the Community Action Food and Nutritional Services office at 279-9325 or visit their website at www.CAASCM.org.
