UNDATED (WKZO) -- Capt. William Hamman was amazing, .a cardiologist who could navigate tiny blood veins as skillfully as he navigated the skies in America’s most advanced airliners. He was respected in both fields and was a frequent speaker at AMA conferences and lectured at a number of hospitals and medical schools.
In 2004, he became the co-director of WMU’s Center of Excellence for Simulation Research, at the Aviation School. He got over 4.2-million in grants for research to apply the kind of simulations and team work used in aviation to improve emergency treatment of Heart attack patients. He was on staff at William Beaumont Hospital in Detroit until June, when after nearly two decades of work in the medical field, someone checked his background and the AP Reports, they found out he had seriously fudged his resume.
He has all the proper certifications to be an airline pilot, but none of the degrees to be a Doctor, had never treated a patient and the 15 years of residency he claimed was fiction. United Airlines took him off their schedule soon after. Doctors who have worked with him say they are stunned.
