DEARBORN (WKZO) -- While gas prices nationally have dropped in the last few weeks, they spiked in Michigan last week, and have only come down just a little since. State wide the spike was just over 7 cents a more per gallon according to AAA’s Nancy Cain. She says it’s the time of the year and the season for driving in a state that depends heavily on tourism.

She says the current state average of just over $2.81 a gallon is 42-cents higher than we were paying at this time last year when the recession was in full bloom, and a $1.10 lower than we were paying at this time in 2008.
