COLDWATER (WTVB) - In summer league baseball, a trio of players from Coldwater will be headed to Puerto Rico next week to play in the Pee Wee Reese World Series. Brendan Spangler, Nick Shaw, and Brandon Lewis are members of the Sturgis-based Hitters Edge Cubs 12-and-under team which this past weekend won their A-A-B-C North Central Regional tournament in Rockford, Illinois.
The Cubs had a 4-and-1 record in the regional, including their 10-to-6 win in Sunday’s championship game over a team from Springfield, Illinois. Spangler had a 2-run homer in the title victory. The Cubs will depart for Puerto Rico a week from today and return on August Ninth.
