COLDWATER (WTVB) - Classic car buffs in the Branch County area, and there are lots of them are gearing up for one of their favorites events of the summer, the Remember the Alamo Cruise, which runs tomorrow afternoon and evening in downtown Coldwater. It’s part of what promises to be a busy and fun schedule of happenings in the Coldwater area before the end of summer.
Two weeks from tomorrow, it’s Michigan’s longest garage sale all along U.S. 12 on Saturday August 14th. Already, 40 have signed up to market their wares in spaces in front of the businesses in downtown Coldwater. That’s in addition to what folks will find in front of other retail locations on the highway from Niles to Detroit.
Ten days later, on Tuesday and Wednesday, August 24th and 25th, it’s the Old 27 Car Cruise. It starts in Auburn, Indiana and comes to Coldwater as the first overnight stop. On the 25th, car cruisers will be downtown to have a picnic lunch and then leave town that afternoon.
Finally, Friday and Saturday, September 17th and 18th, it’s Applefest weekend. That includes the Gold Wing Motor Cycle Convention and Rally at the Fairgrounds…On Friday there will be a “Block Party” downtown from 6 – 9 p.m. with up to 300+ motor cycles parked along Chicago and Monroe Street similar to Remember the Alamo Car Cruise.
