LANSING (WKZO) -- It’s a major slap down. Governor Granholm says Attorney General Mike Cox does not have the constitutional authority on his own to unilaterally decide the state’s position on the issue of healthcare reform. She says the main client of the Attorney General is the Executive Branch.
As the elected head of the Executive Branch, she says that’s her call to make and not his. She says she supports the measure, and has ordered Cox to intervene in support of healthcare reform instead. She has sent a hand-delivered letter to the AG, telling him to switch sides in the suit. A spokesman for Cox says he does have the authority, and disagrees with the Governor.
