ABOARD AIR FORCE ONE (Reuters) - President Barack Obama's top security adviser said on Friday he expected Republicans to continue to support the administration's foreign policy strategy in the wake of the opposition party's capture of the House of Representatives.

"Our efforts from the outset of the administration have been to pursue U.S. interests clearly identified and deliberately pursued and we have had very strong bipartisan support," Tom Donilon, Obama's National Security Advisor, told reporters traveling to India with the president.

"We expect to continue to have that kind of support as best we can see right now," he said.

Obama is expected to face pressure to adopt a more aggressive foreign policy, such as using more force in Afghanistan and keeping troops there longer, after Republicans made gains in the Senate and captured a majority in the House in Tuesday's midterm elections.

India is Obama's first stop on a 10-day, four-country tour of Asia. The trip is his first major policy event since the midterms.
