LANSING (WTVB) --- There was a decrease in traffic fatalities over the Labor Day weekend in Michigan, but not much of one. Sixteen died during the extended holiday weekend last year, and this year there were 9 fatal collisions causing 13 deaths statewide. Two involved alcohol and nearly half were not wearing seatbelts. State Police officials say some of them may have survived if they had been strapped in.
