The New Orleans Saints began defense of their Super Bowl championship with a 14-9 win over the Minnesota Vikings last night in the 2010 NFL regular season opener at the Superdome. The Vikings had a 9-to-7 lead at halftime and then Pierre Thomas' one-yard touchdown run for the Saints midway through the third quarter was the difference.
Brett Favre, returning for a 20th season and making his 286th consecutive start, completed 15-of-27 passes for Minnesota for 171 yards and a touchdown with one interception.
