GRAFTON, Wis. (WTAQ) - Wisconsin will be immortalized Saturday as a home of the Mississippi Blues.
A permanent marker will be placed in Grafton during a ceremony at Lime Kiln Park – close to where the Paramount record label used to be.
The label recorded many blues pioneers from Mississippi in the 1920’s and 30’s. They included The Mississippi Sheiks, Charley Patton, Skip James, Tommy Johnson, and more.
The marker will be the 7th to be placed outside Mississippi. Saturday’s ceremony will be held during the annual Paramount Blues Festival in Grafton. Also, Johnson and Big Bill Broonzy will be inducted into Grafton’s Paramount Walk-of-Fame.
