LANSING (WKZO) -- Governor Jennifer Granholm will be traveling to the White House today for the signing of the Small Business Act, but she won’t be staying long. There is big business to be done this week in Lansing as legislators only have until Friday to finalize work on next year’s budget plan and get it to the Governor’s Desk. A lot has been done.
The Governor has signed 7 of the 15 budget bills already, and is reviewing three others. A critical measure, an early retirement plan that will generate some revenue, passed last week. Still on the table: transportation, natural resources, Human services, universities and general government. Most say it can be done this week.
