Woman Injured In Branch County Crash

by

OVID TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) - The Branch County Sheriff’s Department says it believes alcohol was involved in a  traffic accident last night when a woman was seriously injured as the pickup truck she was driving failed to yield at a stop sign and was struck by a car at Lockwood and Fillmore roads inOvidTownship.

The impact of the crash caused 38-year old pickup driver Dawn Marie Curtis to be trapped in the vehicle for a time before being freed with the help of the Lakeland Fire Department, Lifecare ambulance, and several bystanders.

Curtis was taken to the Community Health Center of Branch County and then transferred to Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo, where officials said they were unable to release any information about Curtis. Deputies said Curtis was northbound on Fillmore when she collided with the Ford Taurus, which was westbound on Lockwood and driven by  16-year old Drake Harvey, also of Coldwater.

Harvey, and a 15-year old passenger, Eric Catlin from Coldwater, were treated and released from the Health Center. The accident, which remains under investigation, occurred shortly before ten o’clock last night.
