COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) - In Branch County high school sports, the girl’s soccer season for Coldwater and Quincy ended last week in the district quarterfinals but two area teams that advanced to the state tournament regionals played last night with one of them moving on and the other being eliminated. Marshall from the SMAC East lost 2-to-0 to Stevensville-Lakeshore in a Division Two regional semi-final match at Plainwell.
Meanwhile, in Division Four, Springport, which edged out Quincy for their conference championship, will play for a regional title Friday after the Spartans last night beat Saline Washtenaw Christian 5-to-1.
Two Branch County teams hope to keep their seasons alive in other sports this coming weekend. In softball, Coldwater takes on Stevensville-Lakeshore Saturday in the Division Two regional semi-finals at Richland Gull Lake while in boy’s golf on Friday, Quincy competes in the Division Three regional hosted by Manchester at the Rustic Glen Golf Club.
