DETROIT, MI (Metro Source) - US Senator Debbie Stabenow won't have to worry about a challenge from conservative talk radio host Frank Beckmann. The one-time Detroit Tigers and Detroit Lions broadcaster announced he won't be running against the two-term Democrat from Lansing during his show yesterday, saying that it would be too great of a sacrifice to give up doing what he loves. Top Republicans such as former Holland Congressman Pete Hoekstra and one-time Michigan Secretary of State Terry Lynn Land have backed off of challenging Stabenow, who upset incumbent Spencer Abraham to win her seat in 2000, and then trounced Oakland County Sheriff Mike Bouchard for reelection six years ago.
