MARSHALL, MI (WKZO) -- MIRS News is reporting that Marshall Rep. Jace Bolger has been approached by republican leaders to run against U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow next year, and they think he is leaning against it.
Bolger is only in his second term in the state house, doesn’t have that much statewide name recognition or a lot of money, and while he isn’t slamming the door, he did say his opportunities here “are too big to walk away from”.
Almost every prominent republican who has been approached so far including Pete Hoekstra and Terry Lynn Land have declined to take on the well funded Democrat.
Operatives say the GOP even approached two former Detroit Red Wings to run, and they said they didn’t want to subject themselves or their families to that sort of experience.
