LANSING (WKZO)- Legislators such as Joe Haveman have the ball on their court on crafting a spending plan for fiscal 2012. The second-term Republican Representative from Holland admits that cuts in revenue sharing to local governments may mean just a tax shift instead of a tax cut for many Michigan residents.
While the Governor’s goal of having a new budget in place by June 1st may be too idealistic, Haveman does say that, whenever such a spending plan is finalized, it should come much sooner than the midnight-hour settlements of past September 30s.
