KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO)  --  Derek Jeter has won the hearts of Yankee fans and has captured most of the Yankee team records.  He is a sure bet for the Baseball Hall of fame, and the Captain is still playing. Now he has a baseball complex named for him.

The  Kalamazoo School Board voted, on recommendation of the district’s naming committee, to rename the Ball Field at Kalamazoo Central High, “Derek Jeter Field”.   Trustee Marcy Peake says it honors a man who is more than just a great ball player, but a philanthropist and a friend to children, with the efforts of Jeter’s Turn-2-Foundation.  The field is where Jeter played ball for the Maroon Giants and was first spotted by the scouts.
