Michigan State has bounced back from its two early season losses against North Carolina and Duke as the Spartans yesterday were winners at Eastern Michigan72-to-40 for their fourth straight victory. Draymond Green led the way for M-S-U with 14 points and 13 rebounds. Adreian Payne added 12 points and 8 rebounds and Keith Appling had 11 points and 5 assists.
The Spartans return to action Wednesday night at home against number-20 Florida State in a Big Ten/ACC Challenge game.
Syracuse last night fired Bernie Fine in the wake of two more accusations of sexual abuse against the longtime assistant coach. The decision ended Fine's 35-year tenure at Syracuse, the longest active streak of consecutive seasons at one basketball program in Division I men's basketball, and delivered another blow to a university now coping with a sex-abuse scandal like the one that rocked Penn State. A third person has accused Fine of sexually abusing him as a child, while Fine's wife expressed concerns about her husband's actions in a 2002 phone call with an alleged victim who was previously known.
