Detroit Red Wings forward Patrick Eaves will be sidelined at least six weeks after having surgery this week to repair a fractured jaw. Eaves, who re-signed with Detroit in July for three years, was hit in the right side of the head with a slap shot late in Saturday's 4-to-1 win over Nashville.
He has one assist in 10 games this season and 70 goals and 133 points in seven NHL seasons with Ottawa, Carolina and Detroit. The Red Wings are idle until Wednesday when they’ll shoot for their sixth straight win with a home game against Tampa Bay.
