DETROIT, MI (WKZO) -- To say security was heightened in the U.S. over the weekend would be an understatement. Fighter jets were scrambled to escort two separate airliners after crews became concerned about frequent bathroom visits by Passengers. The issue on an American Airlines flight to New York apparently was a couple making love and not war.
A Frontier Airlines flight from Denver to Detroit also got a fighter escort after 3 Middle Eastern passengers took frequent bathroom breaks. Wayne County Airport Spokesman Scott Witner says the three men were questioned and released after landing.
Passengers were escorted off the plane without their bags and only allowed to go back on after dogs had sniffed the plane for bombs. They found none.
There was a brief scare near Spectrum Butterworth Hospital yesterday morning when someone spotted a briefcase abandoned near the Hospital loading dock. They called out the bomb squad which deployed an officer in a bomb disposal suit and their robot at about 9:15 Sunday morning. It turned out to be a false alarm, the brief case was empty.
