QUINCY, MI (WTVB) - No action was taken last night by The Quincy Board Of Education as trustees listened to about 15 minutes of public comment on an issue that has polarized part of the community.
It involves the decision by school officials to allow a Quincy High School senior to continue playing on the varsity football team even though the 17-year old from Allen was arrested last month by Hillsdale City Police on criminal sexual conduct charges.
He’s accused of assaulting a girl at a party and faces two counts of third degree CSC. His next court date for a preliminary exam is October 12th. Before opening the public comment section of the meeting, Board President Keith Preston told the group that by law, they cannot permit any names to be used, any abusive, harassing or personal attacks on any student or staff member.
Georgia Mason, the Executive Director of a nonprofit agency in Hillsdale County that works with victims of rape and domestic violence gave some statistics and encouraged the board to examine their current policies.
