COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) - The Branch County Courthouse has reopened today following the Easter weekend and yesterday furlough day for county workers and that means that a Circuit Court trial which was adjourned back on March 22nd can resume.
The case against 18-year old James Wilcox, who faces five counts of first degree criminal sexual conduct, was put on hold after a defense witness became ill. He’s accused of sexually assaulting a 7-year old boy during incidents that authorities charge happened in 2009 and 2010. There were five days of trial before the witness issue arose. Wilcox, who has pled not guilty to the charges, could be sentenced to life in prison if convicted
