The Red Wings and the Predators face off tonight in Nashville in Game Two of their Western Conference quarterfinal series. Nashville struck first and took Game One 3-to-2 on Wednesday night. Darren Helm is out of the Detroit lineup for the rest of the playoffs after he had surgery to repair lacerated tendons in his right arm.
The Red Wing’s center suffered a deep cut to his arm when he was accidentally hit by a skate blade during a collision in the first period of Game One. Helm had made his return to the ice Wednesday after missing the last two weeks of the regular season with a knee injury.
And the NHL has fined Nashville captain Shea Weber 25-hundred dollars for a hit to the head of Red Wings forward Henrik Zetterberg. It happened as time expired to end the game Wednesday night. NHL senior vice president of player safety and hockey operations Brendan Shanahan said it was a reckless and reactionary play and will be taken into consideration should there be any future incidents with Weber during the playoffs.
In the ECHL tonight, it’s Kalamazoo at home against South Carolina in Game One of their Kelly Cup Eastern Conference semi-final series.
