The Tigers lost 5-to-2 yesterday afternoon to the White Sox in Chicago and 5-and-2 is Detroit’s record after dropping their game played on the road this season. Tiger starter Max Scherzer struck out 11, but gave up three runs in six innings of work to take the loss.
Delmon Young had a 2-run homer for the Detroit. Jake Peavy pitched into the 7th inning as the White Sox won their home opener with eight strikeouts while allowing just two hits and two runs. Rick Porcello gets the start for the Tigers this afternoon in game two of the 3-game series at U.S. Cellular Field.
The Cubs improved to 3-and-5 with their win Friday afternoon, beating the Cardinals 9-to-5 in St. Louis.
