UNDATED, MI (WKZO) -- If you plan to ride Amtrak to Detroit this week your trip may begin on a bus. Through Thursday, early morning commuters between Kalamazoo and Detroit will take buses to travel the leg between Kalamazoo and Jackson, because crews will be tearing up and replacing the rail in certain sections between the two cities. Spokesperson Janet Foran says there will be other disruptions as well with some trains cancelled.
Once repairs are made, they will be able to run the trains at normal speeds. The commercial freight line that owns the track has imposed severe speed limits on some stretches of rail because it’s old. These emergency repairs will get the Blue Water Line and the Wolverine back on schedule when all the repairs are done.
