COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) - A four-year old child drowned early last night in Coldwater in a backyard in-ground swimming pool. The boy apparently slipped into the pool at 23 North Jefferson Street around seven o’clock. A news release from the Coldwater Police department said the victim was pulled from the pool by a relative and Branch County Sheriff’s Deputy Steve Foster.
Reportedly, there was around 2-and-a-half feet of runoff water in the part of the pool where the victim ended up. Resuscitation efforts were begun at the scene and continued for some time at the Community Health Center of Branch County but were unsuccessful. The child did not live at the home with the pool. An autopsy is being preformed. The boy’s name hasn’t been released and no other details were made available by police.
