'Hope Springs': Meryl Streep & Tommy Lee Jones Get Sex Tips from Steve Carell — TRAILER

Steve Carell has been on the receiving end of romantic advice in a good deal of his movies. In his career-making The 40 Year Old Virgin, Carell takes pointers from three friends in the area of attracting his first sexual partner. In Crazy, Stupid, Love, Ryan Gosling gives Carell lessons on getting back on the market after his marriage comes to a close. Then there's Date Night, Little Miss Sunshine, Dinner for Schmucks, Dan in Real Life, and The Office... in all of which, Carell has a hard time making love work.

But finally, he has amounted enough knowledge to actually give someone else a few tips. Carell plays a relationship counselor in Hope Springs, which stars Meryl Streep and Tommy Lee Jones as a married couple that has lost its once vivid spark. In true cinematic gender role tradition, Streep's character is open to the idea of couples therapy, while Jones thinks the whole thing is malarkey (ten bucks that he actually says the word ""malarkey"" at some point in the movie).

This territory is hardly untouched, but the acting talent of the three leads does lend promise to a genuine, inventive take on the idea of reviving the romance in one's life. Check out the trailer, and let us know whether or not you think the movie looks fresh and interesting, or just like the same old story you've seen time and time again?
