ATHENS (WTVB) - Calhoun County animal control officials have seized dozens of pets living in deplorable conditions at a home on V Drive South near Athens. They think it was another case of a hoarder, a woman who took in the pets hoping to help them and then becoming overwhelmed. Animal control seized 35 cats, 8 dogs and a bird from the home, where they were living in their own feces. They are being evaluated to determine if they can be rehabilitated, and cleaned up for adoption. No charges yet against the 63 year old woman who also lived at the home, which will also have to be inspected to determine if it can be saved.
