COLDWATER (WTVB) - All the power is back on this morning in Branch County after more than 14-hundred homes and businesses lost electricity service with those severe t-storms that blew in early Tuesday. There was some isolated property damage around the county from downed trees and limbs, but there were no injuries reported in the county. However, we learn now that a couple from Jackson died in a classic wrong place at the wrong time story.
It turned out 64-year old Nancy Vandekieft had the right dream, but she made an incorrect interpretation, and it proved fatal for Nancy and her husband. The woman told a neighbor she had a dream that a tree fell on their summer home in Newaygo County. That may have been why Nancy, and her husband of 44 years, 65-year-old Bill Vandekieft were sleeping in the spare room and not their bedroom when stormy weather moved in Monday night. That was the only room that was crushed when a tree did fall and they were killed. The couple had been spending the summer in the cottage on Ryerson Lake in Sherman Township for several years.
