LANSING (WKZO) -- Flags across the state will be lowered on Friday in honor of Marine Sergeant Justin M. Hansen of Traverse City.

The 26-year-old Hansen died during combat in Afghanistan on July 24th.  He was assigned to the 2nd Marine Special Operations Battalion, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.  He served a tour of duty in Iraq and was serving his second tour in Afghanistan.

Hansen received a Purple Heart, two Combat Action Ribbons and two Good Conduct Medals.
