COLDWATER (WTVB) - They ranged in age from their late 70’s to 101 years old, but they all had one thing in common: they were graduates of Coldwater High School. The 17th annual Coldwater High All School Class Reunion, this year for the graduating classes of 1928 through 1951, was held Saturday at the Eby-Klein Youth and Family Center in Coldwater. This year’s chairman of the event, Marv Rosenberg from the class of 1949, said it was fitting location for the event. When the building was still the National Guard Armory, it was used for dances and roller skating by students. In addition, the state champion 1949 Coldwater High basketball team, coached by Floyd Eby, played their games at the armory because the oldRooseveltHigh School gym didn’t have enough seating capacity.
Some of the 130 graduates in attendance also toured the Tibbits Opera House, where many used to go on Saturday afternoons when the building was a movie theatre. The oldest graduates in attendance at the class reunion were 101-year-old Ruth Farwell from the Class of 1928 and her neighbor Marie Semmelroth Daniels from the Class of 1934. The All School Reunion was started 17 years ago by the late Ed Butters.
