COLDWATER (WTVB) - It appears Branch County veterans should soon be getting a helping hand through the County Clerk’s office. The P-3 Committee of the County Board of Commissioners on Thursday heard from County Clerk Terry Kubasiak who presented a sample ID Card that they would prepare for County Veterans for a $10.00 fee. Charles Scott, Veteran’s Affairs Counselor had conferred with Kubasiak if it was possible to team up on such an endeavor since Scott’s office was implementing a new ID Card system. The Clerk talked to a vendor who was able to help design the layout at no cost to the County. The Veteran would take a request form for the ID card to Scott who would verify and approve the form that would then go to theCountyClerk’s Office. Officials agree the ID Cards will be easier than the veteran having to show their discharge papers and could also be used at area businesses to show Veteran status and be eligible for possible discounts. By the way, next Wednesday is Veteran’s Day at the Branch County Fair with the special Veteran’s program at the Dearth Center starting at six p.m.
