COLDWATER (WTVB) -The first phase of a $6,300,000 Medical and Surgical floors renovation project is underway at the Community Health Center of Branch County.  The hospital says the upgrades will allow the facility to better meet the needs of patients and their families while accommodating the new technology requirements of modern medicine.  The four phase project, which started in July, is expected to take up to two years to complete. Construction work will be between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. with hours varying at times. CHC says the public will need to be cautious when visiting during the project as CHC construction workers will be sharing the hallways moving materials in and out.  The Health Center in Coldwater has a current total bed count in use of 97.  With the renovation, the number of beds will decrease to 86.  Rooms will go from semi-private to private with the ability to convert some rooms back to semi-private rooms when the bed count is high.  The renovations will include new furniture for all rooms, space-efficient flat screen televisions, wall mounted computer workstations in each rooms, updated nursing stations, as well as central heating and cooling systems with individual patient controls.
